On the night between 21st and 22nd October 2013 CET time all Europe, and Italy in particular, was under heavy coordinated attack through a Distrbuted Denial of Service (DDoS). GARL has tracked most of the connections originating from Korea, but we were unable to confirm that Korea is the root source of the attack.
No data was leaked from GARL’s servers and our exclusive Network Protection & Isolation technology has isolated the attacks as soon as they crossed our edge systems. However, the coordinated attack has saturated most of our upstream providers backbone, with a result of slow access to the SSO portal, Administrative access and LDAP. As RADIUS is a lighter protocol, had less impact.
